Since its founding in 1983, The Henrietta Humphreys Group has been dedicated to helping women step into their financial power. Our women-owned and -operated firm has always focused on serving women — their unique financial needs and priorities, their perspectives, their aspirations, and their strengths.
In 1989, Diane Bourdo, CFP®, joined the firm, becoming a Principal in 1993. During the 16 years that Diane and Henri worked together, they developed the firm’s principles, philosophy, discipline, and values —these values and beliefs that inform the work of the firm to this day.
These beliefs? That women are already good at money. That when you align your values and money, you achieve better financial outcomes. That women are powerful and, as such, they deserve powerful financial advice. That both expertise and empathy are of equal importance in money conversations.
The firm has long championed of impact investing and has invested in ESG mutual funds for 20+ years. Today, our firm heartily endorses the increased interest in investing to promote social good.
Following Henri’s retirement in 2004, Diane assumed the role of President, and the name of the firm was shortened to The Humphreys Group.
Today, The Humphreys Group still embodies the core values we defined early on. In August 2020, under Diane’s leadership, The Humphreys Group became a Certified B Corporation, joining a global movement of for-profit companies dedicated to using business as a force for good.
B Corps are businesses that meet the highest standards of verified social and environmental performance, public transparency, and legal accountability to balance profit and purpose. B Corp businesses work toward reduced inequality, lower levels of poverty, a healthier environment, stronger communities, and the creation of high-quality jobs with dignity and purpose.
At The Humphreys Group, we are consistently emphasizing the importance of clients’ living their values. By becoming a B Corp, we are doing the same thing. Our clients’ trust is important to us, and by becoming a B Corp, they can know with certainty that we’re not just talking the talk — we’re walking the walk.
As the COVID-19 crisis has shown, it’s crucial for firms to be adaptive and receptive to change, have a strong infrastructure, to stand for and adopt best practices. Our culture of connection and commitment to learning has provided a solid foundation. We’re proud of the resilience and strength our team has displayed throughout the pandemic.
Our firm is always learning and growing, and we make a conscious effort to push ourselves to be even better. We have annual planning retreats where we assess where we’re at, brainstorm, and set goals for the year.
We’re proud of our close-knit team and the culture we’ve built at The Humphreys Group. As San Francisco–based firm, we support organizations throughout California with our time, talent, and treasure. We close the office three to four days per year to do community service as a group. We provide financial support to organizations from the firm as a whole and at the direction of each of us, individually. We also regularly provide pro bono financial planning to underserved communities.
